BASIC FORMAT OF WORKSHOPS

Six to seven hours/day, five days a week, for one, two or three weeks, depending on the subject of the workshop. One-and-a-half-hour drawing demonstration (or two-hour painting demonstration) each morning. Students draw or paint from the live model for the rest of the day. Each student's drawing or painting receives individual attention every day at his or her drawing board or easel. Classes range in size from ten to twenty-four students.

Drawing: the manual, procedural and analytical techniques of long-pose pencil drawing as applied to the figure and the portrait.
Medium: Graphite pencil on white drawing paper.
Painting"Form Painting," a traditional oil painting method. Techniques, as applied to the portrait: color thumbnail, preliminary drawing on canvas or panel, under-painting, final paint layer (“form painting”).
